up close.

more pictures from the campin trip.
my mom is really pretty.
this is one of my favorite things to watch.

8/2/11

camped.

we are always sure to camp each summer. i feel the woods we visited this year were some of the prettiest. & that lake was gorgeous.

8/1/11

pitchas.

1-jessie & the back of danny
2-a dancing fool

Painting Reality

saw this here.
when i was younger i was always telling my mom that i hated how our world is so full of neutral colors, at least most of it that is.
that's probably why i enjoy all those old houses that have pretty colors & designs so much.
every intersection should look like this one, i think.
ps. Edward Sharpe was so so good. it's true what everyone is saying.

7/28/11

music.

The Decemberists were great last week, i went with my good friend Kevin. we took the long way to the park because there are so many pretty houses to see in Salt Lake, (& an owl forest?!), but it also might have been because we were lost...
<-------- he's over there on the left.
now it's time for the show i've been waiting for all summer! eleven people making music. i hope tonight when we see them that we all clap along to this song. that would be fun. my favorite is Desert Song, how about you?

7/20/11

lace.

Skin & Bones.
i fell in love with that song as i fell in love with the dance.
not in this life but at some point after i surely plan on taking the time to learn to dance like that. it seems it would be so magical to be able to move that way, especially to music.

who else is dying to buy a copy of Kinfolk? so many people contributed to the making of that magazine that have already inspired me countless times.

i saw it a second time & it was even better!

34 days.

7/2/11

b&w.

sometimes i wish i saw the world in black & white. the two opposites complement each other so incredibly.
i've decided to carry a notebook with me at all times from here on out, maybe stash one in my car, in my bag. i have thoughts running through my mind that deserve to be written on paper & remembered.
up at Sundance tonight we saw the Utah Symphony & oh how i wish i had someone who would have been willing to dance with me. it was beautiful sound! i've missed wearing coats too, good thing i'll be living in Logan.
slow dance, swing. i need to marry someone who will dance with me.
i'm so happy we have music to cheer us up.
we are so blessed to live in this country, happy July!

6/24/11

i like songs that i can whistle along to.

out of all the songs to be listening to when i read Oh So Rosie today, i was listening to Pumped Up Kicks. she mentioned Pumped Up Kicks in her post. these things do happen, & i like it when they do because it's fun.
i'm liking their sound a bit these days.

a few more good listens for this day:
Little Talks-Of Monsters & Men
Houdini-Foster The People
Finish Line-Fanfarlo
Down River-Temper Trap
Electric Feel-MGMT

summer is the season for new music, plus a mix of the old.

6/19/11

hey dad,

{i love this old photo of my parents}

happy father's day! i love you a whole bunch.
let's go climbing.

6/18/11

burning incandescently.

my favorite thing these days is riding my bicycle. my sister finally fixed her's up so we've turned into bike riding fools. we sing songs as we ride & oh the places we go. she tells me stories of her 8th grade life & i give her wise advice because that's what i am..wise :) i'll miss those moments when i'm away from her this fall.

my brother comes home from his mission in four days & the excitement/craziness started about two weeks ago. my mother is crazy, i say this in a loving way. but really, she's crazy. i don't think my home or yard has been this clean & organized since ever. four days, FOUR DAYS!

incandescently is a beautiful word. & is it really june 18th?

i just realized i haven't taken any photos this summer. here's some more fisheye film i don't think i've shared yet. lovely.

---
moth's wings, passion pit (i feel this is a good celebration song)
the line up is magical this summer! i am incredibly excited.

6/17/11

east harlem.

i'm truly loving this song.
here it is again, just not live but a little more upbeat.
i'm always feeling a little Beirut.

6/12/11

perspective.

i am rather glad that i have my own perspective on the world. that it can be mine, from my head, my mind. i'm very grateful for agency, that i can feel & think & choose for myself. yet, how incredible is it that we don't have to choose everything by ourselves. we have our Father in heaven to turn to & He trusts us to make the right choice. we just have to be the one to implement those correct choices.
we cannot go wrong when we welcome & recognize His love in everything.

6/7/11

cache.

thank you for looking incredibly beautiful today, Logan.
USU!

5/31/11

i heard you on the radio, i couldn't help but smile.

{i stole this photo from Carrie, she has a pretty umbrella}
every once & a while i'll see a Phoebe runner along the street & i chuckle.
i think i'm probably one of them as well...
Brock! i'm so excited.
i like those guys & their sounds.

5/30/11

brother.

"I helped teach the lesson in third hour on missionariy work, and I just wanted to say that I know that it's the greatest work we can be involved in. I've never had more fun, been more tired, shed so many tears of joy, and smiled as I have on my mission. I figure that I've spent almost 1000 hours formally teaching on my mission, and for all the teaching I've done, I feel that I've learned more than anybody. I agree with President Monson in that every worthy, able young man should prepare to serve a full-time mission. It's what we promised to do before we came to this earth. There's no greater calling. Have a great week!"
-Elder Dobry

we received Jason's 102nd email today. 102! lately i am full of excitement for him to come home, i can't believe he arrives home in only 23 days. it's been so fun to hear from him each week about his adventures & to get advice from him when i needed it. i miss playing basketball with him, card games & mancala, & staying up to watch the late night showings of Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
i feel like so many friends are out in the mission field (& they just keep getting calls!) so it's nice to know they come home. i think it's time to get myself an old globe & place little flags in all the areas around the world where all those missionary friends are. i'm so proud.
{i really just could not spot my brother in this picture, he's there though, i promise}

5/28/11

a room that is dark.

one thing i will miss about high school is my access to the dark room. & a few teachers. & people i see. but i'm ready, so ready, for a new start, & for this summer! i really truly am so excited for life right now. the last few weeks i've been able to breath & actually enjoy being around people without worrying about school work & all those other stresses that occupied my every thought the last five months.
it's refreshing.

5/26/11

eyefish.

Carrie & i might have stayed after school an extra 45 minutes to develop a good bundle of pretty photos today. B-tholomew trusted us with his fisheye...which we might have left campus a few blocks with, maybe. the world looks rather incredible through that little lens i think.
the above is my favorite.
more to come.

5/23/11

dill weed.

the spice of the night was dill weed,
so we made sure to listen to Dilly by Band of Horses.
i am your jenna & you are my carrie.

5/19/11

criss angel did it better.

morp happened.
i got this on my doorstep one night.
we got muddy. MUDDY.
the best.
we took uncomfortable photos that we love in front of a yellow wall.
you'll see below that one is not quite like the other...levitation.
he was my date, i like him.
& good job Brooklyn.
what a good day.

5/18/11

two drifters.

i like the honey trees.
how enchanting is this video.
how enchanting is her voice & pretty hair.
click repeat a few times will you.

5/9/11

sharpe.

they see the world differently.
they see the dirt,
the sparkle in people's eyes,
the good stuff.
they're strange..but they see it.

5/8/11

mom.

i am so grateful that i have the mother i have, i see her living the way you should live everyday. i'm so happy that she has taught me service and love. i can't wait to call her when i'm in Logan and fill her in on all my new adventures. the good and the bad.

happy mother's day.

5/4/11

letters.

dear AP Calculus, see ya!
dear Logan, so good to see you again today. i can't wait to call you my home away from home...so soon!
dear Pine View, thanks for letting me know i'm in finally. it's all coming into place.
dear ABBA & Fleetwood Mac, i will always, ALWAYS, love you.
dear Seven Eleven, i passed by five of you today & each time i was reminded of Craigers & how he got his call today. i'm so proud of all those guys.
dear phone, we've seen a lot of each other lately via text messaging, it's not normal.
dear Carrie, i keep laughing at that list/questionnaire.
dear May the fourth of 2011, you were the best worst day i've had in a long time. freedom is good.

let's graduate already!

5/1/11

friends that i love.

something happened today.
i got a little emotional when i saw this picture over at Carrie's internet place...& i thought, hey, i love these guys.
i'm going to miss them real bad when we are all in different lands next year.

4/29/11

fleets of foxes.

i once said Fleet Foxes took me to distant lands. & today they really did, along with the help of two of my favorite people. over here. (i would like an iphone, please)
listen & imagine.
also, happy promming. i can't wait to see everyone dressed up, it might be my favorite part of the occasion...

4/28/11

pretty.

it seems as though i've run out of ramblings these days. though, every day calls for celebration in some little way. i wish i took the time to write them all down...
today i made up a song about flossing my teeth. i love flossing my teeth & singing myself through these kinds of things. i aslo danced for my dog.

those braids are pretty from A Cup Of Joy
broken horses

4/22/11

Fleet Foxes.

Blue Ridge Mountains.
when i listen to them i feel i should be in a distant land of many cloud shaped trees with a compass & a map. it's a good Friday over here though. my pink tree is waking up & draping to the green grass.

4/21/11

vagabond shoes.

"start spreading the news,
i'm leaving today.
i want to be a part of it,
New York!"
you know those moments when your mind really just has nothing to think about? usually my head just fills in random songs to ease the silence inside, it usually plays the same song for a few days till it chooses another one. lately it's been Frank Sinatra-New York. i wonder why.
what a good man.

---
i drove past a Phoebe runner today!
see here.
i love this show the most of them all.

4/19/11

new.

my excitement of being in a new land this August is growing more each day. i've moved once & it wasn't dramatic. this will be a time of learning, independence, & fresh beginings. i welcome this excitement with all my heart as i have for so many months already. absolutely & completely, how can i not! i have the stability of a best friend; we will ride our bicylcles around our new neighborhood on Sunday afternoons in the fall time & climb rocks.

4/14/11

luna, the doors are open.

i pray for my future to be full of afternoons like theirs.
i've got Angus & Julia Stone in my head, on repeat.
i have been dreaming all week long.
i have bizzarre dreams, if i wrote a book of them it would entertain you for hours.
my grandfather made me laugh a lot yesterday, he hates China.
a trumpet.
King's Speech was mesmerizing in so many ways, plus it made me more excited to be a speech therapist.
our curb has graffiti on it.
i contemplated the vastness of the world today & i think a road trip on the eastern side of the country sounds nice.
Harry Potter i think!
the ships are coming in & i have nothing more to say.

the walls are coming down
harold t. wilkins
luna

i love their sound.
i love their style.
the singer looks familiar.
